Inaugural Strategic Plan

KW4 OHT has launched our inaugural Strategic Plan to guide our work over the next five years (2024-2028).

The Strategic Plan is a road map with multi-year goals for KW4 OHT. It articulates the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of our existence and helps us to identify priorities.

Oversight of the Plan Development

A Strategic Planning Working Group (SPWG) consisting of representatives from Member organizations along with Community Members has been formed to lead the strategic planning work.  The SPWG is guided by the input of Members, Primary Care, Specialists and the community. The terms of reference for this group can be reviewed here

The SPWG has direct accountability and reporting responsibility through the chair of the Working Group, to the KW4 OHT Steering Committee. The KW4 OHT Steering Committee is responsible for overseeing the strategic plan development and developing an annual work plan consistent with the strategic plan. The Members are ultimately responsible for approving the strategic plan and ensuring alignment between the KW4 OHT Strategic Plan and their organizational plans.

Our Current Environment

To help inform our strategic planning process, KW4 OHT has developed a Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal (PESTEL) analysis.

A PESTEL analysis is a strategic tool used to identify and evaluate the external factors that may impact the KW4 OHT’s ability to deliver on our vision over the next 5 years.  By understanding these external influences, KW4 OHT can better foresee challenges and opportunities in our evolving environment.

This analysis, which focuses on the trends and drivers that influence health and wellness, will help to guide the OHT in aligning objectives and resources within our external context, ensuring better preparedness and adaptability to changing conditions.  Over 160 documents were analyzed in the preparation of this analysis.  Documents ranged from official government publications such as briefings, legislation, publications from professional associations and bodies, official reports, relevant media releases, municipal census data, etc. The PESTEL analysis can be found here.
