Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your organization?
Rudy Mancini is the Chief Partnership Officer of Bloom Care Solutions. Bloom was founded in 2018 with the goal of creating a technology to address the pain points of personal support workers and others in the industry. Since contracting with the Waterloo Wellington LHIN, Bloom has expanded to become one of the fastest growing digital health and services home care companies in Canada. They currently service a large number of clients and are a community care agency that utilizes technology to better provide services in the community. Bloom has had a successful year, having received numerous accolades including being named in Deloitte's top 50 organizations and ranking number 3 in Canada. Additionally, out of 500 organizations in North America, Bloom was ranked 26th.
What drew you to Bloom Care Solutions originally? And how has Bloom Care Solutions changed since?
Rudy Mancini explained that he and his colleagues were initially in the home care industry with individuals with a combined experience of approximately 50-60 years. They founded Bloom with the aim of addressing the need for better pay rates, coordination, and communication in the industry. Since then, the company's service model has proven successful, allowing them to scale across other healthcare providers. Bloom offers home and community care services ranging from personal support services to nursing and various therapies. Additionally, they provide digital health solutions for virtual home care and healthcare navigation. They have also developed models that have been scaled across Ontario, such as integrated transitional care services to facilitate faster and more seamless hospital discharges. Rudy also shared impressive statistics, including 0% missed care, 100% acceptance rates, and less than 0.1% readmission rates, highlighting Bloom's commitment to providing quality care.
What do you like most about Bloom Care Solutions ?
Rudy Mancini highlighted the organization's incorporation of technology into an industry where it has traditionally been challenging to do so. He also expressed pride in their impressive 82 promoter score, which is significantly higher than the healthcare industry average of nine and even exceeds the world-class benchmark of 70. This score reflects high staff satisfaction and excellent customer satisfaction ratings. However, what Rudy finds most fulfilling is the fact that Bloom is making a positive impact by reducing missed visits for patients in need of care the most.
Can you tell us what your role(s) is/are with the OHT?
Rudy Mancini explained that their role with the OHT is to represent the home care provider's perspective in assessing the needs and direction of the OHT. As a trusted partner, Bloom aims to ensure that any solutions developed for the community's benefit integrate all partners' perspectives and prioritize the patients' best interests.
How does your organization align with the values and goals of the OHT?
Rudy explains that Bloom Care Solutions' focus on empowering patients and families aligns with the values and goals of the OHT. The organization is committed to bringing care back into the community and keeping people safe at home, rather than in hospitals. Bloom's values are centered around the patient's rights, supporting the Ontario Health System, and giving patients the care they need at the right time and place. Rudy also notes that Bloom's integration with other health providers aligns with many of the OHT's goals.
What do you hope to see in the near future with your continued partnership with the OHT?
Rudy expressed his desire to see lasting and positive outcomes in patient care. He emphasized the need for better integration of patient preferences in the type of care they receive, as well as reducing the administrative burden on the healthcare system. Rudy believes that working together and creating tailor-fit solutions for each community is essential to achieve these goals.
